What makes you do what you do?

My answer... Family... mine and my clients'.

You may think, "Family makes Nathan (Nate, truly no preference), work in financial services?" It's true. Families of my clients and my own family have been adversely impacted by decisions that were made based on questionable advice and unsuccessful transactions. Unfortunately, I believe this has happened to many others, therefore, I felt the draw to merge my experiences and assist. More to follow.

Initially, I wanted to teach. This led me to a degree in Education (BS, CWU). For various reasons, I decided to leave the field to pursue a Master's Degree and a career in Sports Business (MS, NYU). A small town kid from the Northwest, I crossed the country to live and work in New York City where I would stay for 8 years. The majority of that time was spent working in the Finance Department at Major League Baseball.

I was in New York during the Great Recession. This impacted family more than any other event, to date (including COVID-19). Although young enough this did not impact me or affect my investment choices, seeing wealth vanish and the necessary adjustments in lifestyle was eye opening. The decision had not been made, but the realization of how I could fill the continual urge to help people and be more fulfilled in a career began ruminating more than ever.

While in NYC, I met my (now) wife. We decided to split the distance between families and move to Denver. After settling into our new home, and with a child on the way, we made the decision, as a family, that there was "no time like the present" for the change of career. Soon after completing licensing, I immediately went to work assisting my family with their situations as well as finding avenues to help others.

In addition to advising individual clients, I've completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification. I am in the process of finalizing additional education related to group retirement plans in an effort to positively impact as many families and lives of clients and improve their future financial prospects.

Financial literacy is one of the biggest deficits in the world. Through working with group retirement plans, I have the ability to connect with potentially thousands of families and individuals; employers and employees; all plan participants.

With advanced certifications, family values, and life experiences, I believe I am uniquely qualified to be a resource for anyone looking for advanced planning, related to individuals, businesses, plan design, and building a legacy. I chose my relationship with Waddell & Reed due to the resources available to assist with all of these areas.

So, if you are interested in creating that legacy and helping your family pursue new heights, we should continue the conversation.

Thank you for visiting and I look forward to speaking soon.
